Anouk is responsible for compiling the inventory of solutions to improve oceans and human health. She will also coordinate the demonstration of selected solutions in a Dutch pilot study.
Anouk has extensive experience in providing information to water managers and citizens on the human health risks of harmful algal blooms and bacterial pollution in bathing waters and aquaculture areas.
Her work combines near real-time sensor data from satellites and in-situ sensors, with models, meteorological data and citizen monitoring to generate early warnings of risks to human health.
Enhancing the understanding, awareness and communication of health risks and benefits of living by the sea will be key challenges for her during the SOPHIE project.
