Mariluz Parga

Mariluz Parga is a Project Manager at the marine environmental organisation SUBMON, based in Barcelona, Spain.

She holds an MSc in Wildlife Medicine and Conservation and is an IUCN SSC Wildlife Health Specialist.

After working in wild and zoo animal clinics for several years, Mariluz now spends most of her time working with fisheries around the world to reduce the incidental capture of protected species, especially marine turtles.

She is also very interested in sustainable coastal tourism, best practices and Ocean Literacy.

Within SOPHIE Mariluz is focusing on developing a pilot program to involve tourism operators and customers in oceans and human health-related citizen science, encouraging their involvement in marine conservation and awareness.
